I think learning the guitar, but I am a first computer main and most important, with a pianist. I quite understand that we must “build calluses” to play better and less painful, but I wonder, to affect my ability to affect the type or play the piano like I do now? I know, but I can not take the risk of not being able to touch type, and I would be able to play the piano the same way too. Thoughts? Thanks!

Not at all. In fact, your ability to touch type and play the piano will be enhanced because playing the guitar increases manual dexterity. I play the piano, play the guitar and touch type – at a high speed.

Nope, there won’t be any negative effects. I play guitar and can type just like I did when I didn’t play.

Before I started playing guitar I was a pretty fast typer (did programming etc “back in the day”)… and I can still type 60-80 words/min depending on the time of day and whether I’ve had enough caffeine or not… so yeah, no big deal…. you’re okay! =)

i’d disagree, my friend is very serious about piano & has been playing it for years.
about 3 odd years ago he picked up a guitar to learn some basic songs (as many people do) but however he started freaking out soon when his Callouses built up.
eh from what i remember he was saying that you need a very gentle touch on the piano (he was on about some technique & varying the sounds when playing), the callouses deaden the nerves & that this was really bad. basically he quit guitar pretty soon & didn’t go back.
