I’ll start with the preschool piano, but I’m not sure where to start with what is the lesson planning. I played the piano for 13 years and worked in a nursery school for three years so I know whereof I speak, but I do not know where to start, what to teach my first lesson, second lesson, and so on. Can someone please help!

guess you better do some research and/or check with other teachers.

I would recommend using piano methods that are designed for young beginners. I’ve just started using My First Piano Adventures & I love it! It includes a Lesson Book http://www.themusicnmorestore.com/product_info.php?products_id=84056
    and a Writing Book http://www.themusicnmorestore.com/product_info.php?cPath=90_206_1554&products_id=84057

The Lesson Book has a CD that may aid in practicing.

My tip is just start from the easy basics! dont rush or get made at them. Before you know it they’ll know more than a 10yr old who started piano a year ago. (FYI: I’m not talking about myself (I started piano in 3rd grade now i’m in 8th))

I…wouldn’t start. I think preschool age is far too young for instrumental lessons. Much better to play the piano TO them, encourage them to experiment a bit, and to sing.

My youngest started piano lessons at 6, at which point his reading age was 11. That was still plenty young enough. His teacher won’t take kids who aren’t completely secure with reading, because she found that letter names for notes totally confused them.

My kids loved using Piano Party by Bastien. It is great for the 4-yr-old age. I haven’t had success with any of my boys before then. Please don’t teach Do-Rae-Me. That’s how I learned and it really kept me from my full potential. They should learn A-G for the notes.
