My kids loved using Piano Party by Bastien. It is great for the 4-yr-old age. I haven't had success with any of my boys before then. Please don't teach Do-Rae-Me. That's how I learned and it really kept me from my full potential. They should learn A-G for the notes.

I...wouldn't start. I think preschool age is far too young for instrumental lessons. Much better to play the piano TO them, encourage them to experiment a bit, and to sing.

My youngest started piano lessons at 6, at which point his reading age was 11. That was still plenty young enough. His teacher won't take kids who aren't completely secure with reading, because she found that letter names for notes totally confused them.

My tip is just start from the easy basics! dont rush or get made at them. Before you know it they'll know more than a 10yr old who started piano a year ago. (FYI: I'm not talking about myself (I started piano in 3rd grade now i'm in 8th))
