Is it possible to learn how to play piano by ear?
I took piano lessons for about four years. I received the fall of learning songs by ear. As I understood how to play the melody of “whatever” by the Maine and the establishment of “decode” from Paramore.Pero can learn all the songs together, just to hear a tip? Thanks !
Yes, but it’s much easier to use your fingers.
Some people do seem to have that gift. They just need to develop the dexterity, speed, and sureness of their fingers on the keyboard.
Play Piano by Ear? Wow! that Sounds Painful! No! No!..Lil Joke! Yes! as long as you have the Fundamental Chords, and you’re Not “Tone Deaf” you could “Rock It”

One thing that helped me was to study music theory to better understand chord structure. Then I combined a basic understanding of chords with the melody which I could play by ear. Once you understand how to construct chords you can follow a fake book. A fake book gives you the chords for a song along with a melody line and makes playing by ear much easier. Even though you may be able to use your ear to find the chords for a song, there will be times when you may misinterpret a chord progression. I have found that this method helps me get where I want to go quicker with fewer mistakes. Also study the Nashville Number System. That is what most pros use.
I learned how to play the piano only by ear.
The only people who want to play by ear are those people who are TOO STUPID or TOO LAZY to learn how to play with REAL MUSIC and with TRAINING. If you have been taking lessons for FOUR YEARS and you are now thinking of playing by EAR then I have to wonder WHICH CATEGORY YOU FALL INTO.
A good piano player can have some drunk in a bar hum a few bars of music and then FAKE IT good enough the drunk and his friends are happy.. AND a good piano player may even KNOW the pieces, so he/she can complete it.. but a GOO PIANO PLAYER does NOT rely on PLAYING BY EAR because THAT IS NOT PLAYING THE PIANO… it’s the LAZY way to make music.. but it’s NOT PLAYING THE PIANO.
I think this is called the Suzuki method of learning if im not mistaken. I know violin teachers who teach their students to play the violin solely by ear. I don’t know if the same goes for piano, I don’t think you can take lessons on how to play piano by ear, but you can always teach yourself
For me the best way to learn piano is playing songs.
I discover a new website to learn piano and I think is worth the money. Even you can get and introductory course for free.
Give it a look!
