What books and software do you suggest to learn piano, reading sheet music, and music theory?

I try to learn to play the piano. I think the first step is figuring out how to read music. I was wondering if there was a program that allows me to learn the notes on the computer keyboard. I should also mention that the lack of direct access to a store (I have no car on campus) and I hoped that I can order recommended titles off Amazon or BN.
